The History

Mashal Radio was founded in 2001 and started broadcasting on the 1st of Ramadan. The station based in Oldham, Lancashire has attracted thousands of listeners across the region and its unprecedented success has lifted the quality of radio broadcasting in the whole region.

The station was founded by Mr. Mahboob Kakrvi (more details in the Staff section of this web site) - himself a vastly experienced journalist with multi-lingual experience and a drive that has driven the very existence of this station, and the reasons for setting the station alight with his knowledge and experience are equally deserving of praise.

Purpose and Objectives

Mashal Radios very existence is evidence enough to state the values for its creation. The main reason for its creation was the founders duty to share his knowledge with the community, a value greatly admired and appreciated by his colleagues too. The radio station is a platform to allow diffusion of the misunderstandings that exist between communities and within the larger community as a whole. It not only intends to induce harmony amongst the community, but also to help build the widening gaps that exist today between generations and indeed cultures to be found in the UK.

In addition to the reasons mentioned above Mashal Radio strives to compete at the highest level of professional broadcasting and has endeavored to bring to its listeners some of the industry's leading broadcasters, therefore increasing the quality of its programmes.

Mashal radio also aims to bridge gaps and help bring together many different individuals, community businesses, services, and initiatives, helping to create a truly honorable environment for all to increase their knowledge and understanding of one another.

Success and Future of Mashal Radio

Mashal Radio has continued to impress its listeners and competition since its inauguration over 8 years ago. It has gained wide acclamation of its services to the community as well as its excellence in providing a first class radio network broadcast across the region.

In addition to the quality of the station its quantity has continued to enjoy increasing numbers of listeners year on year, exceeding all expectations of its founders. That's also one of the reasons the station has continued to return every year and provide its listeners with more and more. For the third time in its broadcasting years, the station will yonce again be broadcasting over the Internet.

In the future the station aims to grow from a regional radio station to a truly national and god willing an international radio network. We hope our listeners continue to enjoy the excellent services we provide for them.
