A LOCAL broadcaster is once again appealing to the public for their help in running a community radio station.
The popular Mashal Radio is to hit the airwaves during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan for the eighth successive year.
Mahboob Kakrvi, station founder and Coppice resident, wants members of the public to come on board and help make this year's broadcast even bigger and better than ever before.

A YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR AND UNIVERSITY student will run Mashal Radio next month with help from his father, broadcast journalist Mahboob Kakrvi.
Mohammed Ali (22) will manage the radio station, which is launched on September 2 and will broadcast throughout Ramadan.
The month-long transmission on 106.7FM runs for the ninth consecutive year and features live shows 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
It will operate from its base in Ross Street, Coppice, and will focus on a range of Islamic and community issues.
In previous years, Mr Kakrvi, who works for DM Digital on Sky, has helped with the running of the station and has now passed on his expertise to his son.

Oldham’s Mashal Radio is back — this time with a host of new presenters and programmes with a difference.
Radio Ramadan is returning after a year’s absence with a range of popular programmes for all ages and cultures.
Shows will be broadcast in English, Urdu, Punjabi and Bangla and are all set to grip listeners from September 22, three days before the holy month of Ramadan.

MASHAL radio gripped Asian listeners as it went on air for the third year running yesterday (26th October2003).
Guests at the official launch included Inspector Keith Capewell and Salahuddin Choudhry, Consul General of Pakistan and Manchester.
The month-long transmission will operate 22 hours a day from its base on Roundthorn Road, Clarksfield.

Mashal Radio is the first ever Islamic Radio Station in Oldham. It has been set up by a hard working Person Mahboob Kakrvi.
Mahboob Kakrvi is a Freelance Journalist who started his career with local Radio Stations as a Urdu newscaster and now works with Electronic and Printed Media at the same time.
He has been a Journalist for more than 20 years and his ambition was always to open his own radio station for the community.
